Vehicle Description
Pro Touring Boss 302 Tribute — 408 Stroker, Modern Handling, Grabber Yellow
OVERALL CONDITION: Grabber Yellow paint is striking and presents very well. A few minor chips on the hood leading edge and one on the driver's fender from road debris. Body is straight with good panel alignment — the Boss 302-style rear wing and front spoiler are well-mounted. There is no evidence of bodywork or filler on the main panels. All glass is clear and clean. The 19-inch wheels fill the wells and give the car a purposeful stance. Interior is well-done: black vinyl buckets with a center console, modern digital gauges, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel on a tilt column. The carpet is thick and clean. The headliner is tight. Minor scuffing on the driver's door panel near the handle. This is a high-quality driver — not a Pebble Beach car but very nice.
ENGINE: 408 Stroker V8 built from a 351W block — estimated 500+ HP with fuel injection. The engine has 608 miles since the build and looks fresh under the hood. Starts instantly, idles smoothly at 850 RPM. No smoke, no leaks. The intake is a modern EFI setup — the engine responds to throttle immediately. Compression is 190+ psi across all cylinders. Cooling is handled by a large Griffin aluminum radiator with dual fans — runs at 180°F consistently. Headers feed into a 3-inch dual exhaust — the sound is authoritative and deep. This is a new engine that runs flawlessly.
TRANSMISSION: 5-speed manual — Tremec TKO. Shifts are crisp and precise. The shifter has a short throw and no play. Clutch is a hydraulic unit with light pedal effort — easy to drive in traffic. The overdrive 5th gear allows 70 MPH cruising at 2,100 RPM. No grinding, no slipping.
BRAKES: Four-wheel power disc brakes with slotted rotors. The system is modern and performs excellently — strong, progressive, and fade-free. Brake fluid is fresh. Stops like a new performance car.
UNDERCARRIAGE: The frame is solid and clean — no rust. A Total Control front suspension kit has been installed with coil-overs, tubular control arms, and a rack-and-pinion steering conversion. The rear is a 9-inch Ford with a 3.70 Posi and a 4-link setup. Floor pans are new and clean. Gas tank is a modern fuel cell. All lines are braided stainless. The undercarriage is very clean and professionally finished.
Test Drive Experience
The 408 Stroker fires with authority — you can feel the power potential in the idle. The clutch is light and easy to modulate — this is a car you could drive every day. The Tremec clicks through the gears with precision, and the shifter feel is excellent.
The engine has enormous torque — from a rolling start, 3rd gear pulls hard and doesn't stop until you lift. The rack-and-pinion steering is a revelation compared to the original recirculating ball — it's direct, quick, and accurate. The car corners flat thanks to the coil-over suspension, and the 19-inch wheels with modern rubber grip hard.
Braking is outstanding — the 4-wheel discs haul the car down from speed with no drama. On the highway, 5th gear drops the RPMs and the car cruises at 75 MPH effortlessly, with a smooth ride and minimal wind noise. After 40 minutes of aggressive driving, the temp never exceeded 185°F.
This is what a Pro Touring car should feel like — classic looks with modern capability.
