Professionally Restored Fastback With Atk 347 Stroker — Excellent Driver
OVERALL CONDITION: This is a custom restoration by Sin City Muscle Cars and the finish shows it. The black paint is deep and glossy with a few minor flaws: a small chip on the hood and a 1-inch scratch on the driver door from normal use. Body is straight with excellent panel fit — gaps are consistent and tight. There is no visible bondo. All chrome and trim are new or re-plated and show beautifully. Glass is new all around with no scratches or chips. Interior is custom: black vinyl bucket seats with a center console, billet floor shifter with black Q-ball knob, NuView blue-lit gauges, and a black leather-wrapped billet steering wheel on a tilt column. RetroSound AM/FM radio with Bluetooth. Power windows operate smoothly. The interior is close to show quality — minor scuffing on the driver's seat side bolster only.
ENGINE: ATK HPE HP100C 347 Stroker crate engine rated at 450 HP. The engine has 3,200 miles since installation and runs like new. Starts instantly, idles smooth at 850 RPM, no smoke, no leaks. Compression is 185 psi across all cylinders. The EFI (if equipped) or carburetor is tuned correctly — no lean pop, no rich running. Cooling is handled by an aluminum radiator with electric fan — runs at 185°F in all conditions. Headers are ceramic-coated long tubes feeding into FlowMaster Super 44 mufflers — the exhaust note is deep and aggressive. The 347 pulls hard from 2,000 RPM and revs freely to 6,500. No mechanical issues noted.
TRANSMISSION: T5 5-speed manual with floor shifter. Shifts are smooth in all gears with no grinding. Clutch is new — grabs cleanly with moderate pedal effort. The 5th gear overdrive makes highway cruising civilized — 70 MPH at 2,200 RPM. No slippage, no issues.
BRAKES: Power disc brakes front and rear — modern upgrade. The pedal is firm and progressive. Stops straight and hard with no fade in normal driving. Brake fluid is fresh. Parking brake works.
UNDERCARRIAGE: The undercarriage is clean and well-finished. Frame is solid — no rust, no scale. Floor pans are new. Front suspension has been rebuilt with new bushings and springs. Rear is a Ford 9-inch with a 3.50 Posi — rebuilt and clean. Gas tank is new. All lines are new. The exhaust is hung cleanly and the system is routed properly. Overall, the underside reflects the quality of the restoration.
Test Drive Experience
The ATK 347 fires up with a crisp bark — the FlowMasters give it a commanding presence even at idle. The clutch engagement is smooth and light, and the T5 shifter moves through the gates with precision. First gear is easy to modulate in traffic — no jerkiness.
The 450 HP hits hard in second and third — the 9-inch Posi plants the power with minimal wheelspin. Steering is manual but not heavy — the car tracks straight and feels planted. The power disc brakes are excellent — modern feel with strong, progressive stopping.
Out on the highway, 5th gear drops the RPMs down and the car cruises at 70 MPH effortlessly. The ride is firm but not harsh — you feel bumps but the chassis is tight and there's no squeak or rattle. Aftermarket 17-inch wheels ride better than the original 14s would have.
Wind noise is minimal. After an hour of mixed driving, the temp gauge sat at 185°F the whole time — rock solid. This is one of the best-driving classic Mustangs I've been in.
